This sometimes happens, and is often dose dependent!.

Advair comes in 3 dosages!. I typically prescribe the 100/50 to naive patients who have not used this drug before!. If you're taking a stronger dose, then that can be the likely culprit!.

The long-acting beta agonist (dilator) is what causes this nervousness!. It increases the heart rate in most people!. Sometimes this eventually gets better and goes away; sometimes not!.

You might talk to the person who prescribed it for you and talk about some other options!. You might benefit by taking something like "Asmanex" (an inhaled steroid), and using a fast-acting bronchodilator like Albuterol as needed!.

Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hate that feeling!. And while the above answerer is partially correct, he isn't totally!. So let me refine and enhance upon his answer!.

Anxiety and nervousness is associated with Advair's salmeterol component!. This drug acts on Beta receptors in the lungs to relax the smooth muscle, but has the exact opposite effect on the heart!. This could increase heart rate and blood pressure, giving the "body feeling" of anxiety!. This would be the same but less intense feeling as albuterol inhailers!. Because it is long-acting, the intensity of salmeterol's side effects is much less than taking a couple puffs of albuterol!. So if you don't get that after taking albuterol, the issue may have a different cause!.

What he missed is that there is a steroid component to Advair (fluticasone)!. Steroids can cause the same type of symptoms (neurological effects) in sensitive individuals!.

When he is talking about 3 doses, and "taking a higher dose may be the culprit," he is talking about the steroid component!. The salmeterol component is ALWAYS 50 (second number)!. The 100, 250, 500 is how much steroid is in each dose!. If they gave you more than 250 to start of with, you may want to consider a more competent doctor!. If you were having serious issues at the time the script was written, many doctors will start you off with 250 to get on top of the inflammation and then step back to 100!. This is especially true if your asthma is allergen-induced and it is your allergen season!.

Asmanex may be a good option!. The drug is different than fluticasone, but you shouldn't take it if you are allergic to milk!. If you were to use fluticasone disks with albuterol for a month, you could determine if it is actually the salmeterol that is causing your issues!. If your asthma is allergen triggered, you may want to try Singulair, which works very well in many people with allergen-induced asthma!.

For now, I would give the medication one month!. Sometimes the Beta 2 receptors can desensitize and the anxiety goes away (if that is the problem)!. Otherwise, talk with your doctor again and see about changing what you are taking and experimenting to find the best combination for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
