Hypothyroidism?!

Hypothyroidism?

Anyone have this? I'm going for bloodwork in a few days to have my thyroid levels checked. I've been feeling very sluggish lately, also have had many of the symptoms that go along with hypothyroidism (researched on internet) Does anyone have this, and what symptoms did you have and what is the treatment for it? Thanks!

Hello! I have Hashimotos Diseases (type of hypothyriodism) since I was 16. However, because of the lack of knowledge doctors have outside of their field of study, I have been taken off hormone, and been put back on several times before I referred myself to an Endo. My best advice to you is to make sure they do a thyriod anti-body test. This was the mistake my general doctors were making, as my thyriod hormone was sometimes where it should be, but my antibody level was through the roof!! Very complicated, but short story is that when you have such a high number, your antibodies actually attack your thyriod. When I knew something was wrong, I was sleeping constantly, had gained about 75 pounds over three months, when I wasnt sleeping, I was sluggish, had frequent dizzy spells, and almost seizure like spells (always stayed concious, I was told these episodes are called thyriod storms). My husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost two years now, and have had difficulty, which is also a side effect of the disease. However, now that I have finally seen an Endo, and have promised myself to take my pills everyday!!, we are hopeful we will have a baby soon!!! If your hypothyriodism is confirmed, it is so very important to take your meds daily and consistently, trust me I was horrible at this at first!! You can lead a basically normal life, just take your meds!!! Hope it all works out!!! Keep us posted!
