Is mebeverine hydrochloride safe for a child with abdominal pain?
My 8-year-old son has unexplained tummy cramps and has been prescribed this medicine but the info seems written for older patients only.

It is prescribable on licence for 10 years and above, and GPs do have leeway to prescribe outside this range if they feel it both safe and necessary, I must say I have never prescribed symptomatically for abdominal pain in children. I would need to be sure I knew the cause of the pain and then prescribe ( or not) accordingly.
