Giving Herpes?!

Question:

Giving Herpes?

Can non-genital herpes transfer into genital herpes by way off mouth aka cold sore?

Answers:

It doesn't go from HSV-1 (associated with the mouth) to HSV-2 (associated with the genitals) just because it is on the genitals. You can transfer mouth herpes to the genitals. If it is HSV-1 that the person has on their mouth and performs oral on someone the person receiving can get genital herpes but it would be HSV-1. It is harder to get HSV-1 on the genitals then it is to get HSV-2 on the genitals because each version of the virus has different sites of preference. HSV-1 virus prefers the mouth while HSV-2 prefers the genitals. I know it is confusing. The basic answer to your question is yes. If you have any questions, then feel free to ask me.
