Why haven't they cured cancer yet?!

Question: Why haven't they cured cancer yet!?
Seriously!. Billions of dollars have gone to cancer research and they still got nothing!. You would think after so much money and time they would have some sort of lead, but no!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They haven't 'got nothing'; thanks to dedicated (and underfunded) cancer research, many lives are prolonged and some cancers cured

The problem with finding a 'cure for cancer' is that cancer is not a single disease, it's an umbrella term for over 200 different diseases!. The difficulty with finding a cure is that different cancers are caused by different things, so no one strategy can prevent them They all respond to different treatments so no one treatment can cure them, so there isn't a magic bullet that cures all cancers and there never will be!.

But quite a few cancers CAN already be cured: seven out of ten children are cured of cancer; testicular cancer, Hodgkin's disease, and many cases of leukaemia can all be cured in adults with chemotherapy, most skin cancers are cured with surgery and many cases of thyroid cancer and cancer of the larynx are cured with radiotherapy!.

Many other types of cancer are also cured if they are found early enough!.

There's no guaranteed cure for any type of cancer; but it's thanks to cancer research and improved treatments that people like me are alive, fit and well following cancer treatment!.

There'll never be a Eureka! moment when somebody discovers a substance or procedure that reverses all cancers!. But there will continue to be progress - perhaps the discovery of a way to reverse one type, or to slow down others, perhaps improved treatments!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are almost 300 types of cancer, some with multiple variations!. There as been a steady increase in survival rates in most cancers but prevention is difficult because it goes to the basic activity of cell division!. The Research dollars have seen some success!. Women can avoid some forms of cervical cancer by vaccination!. Cures of some cancers are in the 90 -99% area (e!.g!. thyroid, hodgkin's disease)

Human behavior is still a major cause of cancer!. 1/3 of cancer deaths are from smoking, lung cancer still the number 1 cause of cancer death!. Avoid sun burns, tanning booths, being overweight!.

There are probably thousands of different types of cancers, so "curing cancer" is a very big problem!. Curing something like diabetes would theoretically be a lot easier, since diabetes is caused for the most part by one organ!.

For all practical purposes, some cancers have a known cure and can usually be cured if detected early (i!.e!., they have cure rates of 98% or 99%)!. Unfortunately, some types of cancers usually go undetected until they are quite advanced (e!.g!., ovarian cancer or pancreatic cancer), so these are less curable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Simply because NO TWO CANCERS are the same!. In fact, no two cancer cells are exactly the same!. Every cancer is different from every other cancer!. Every cancer is "a unique disease"!.

p!.s!. we also haven't cured:

the Common Cold
Heart disease
Diabetes
Alzheimer's disease
Parkinson's disease
Depression
Schizophrenia
Osteoporosis
etc!. etc!. etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't go as far as to say they don't have any leads!. I have a friend who is a cancer survivor!. I think because of all the different kinds of cancer, it's harder to find a cure for each individual type!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
