Ask your local pharmacist for a cream or shampoo containing permethrin 5%, and use it according to the directions. There are a number of other preparations that can be used for crabs or scabies, but permethrin is the gentlest on the skin. Wash any clothes, sheets, towels used in the past three days in the hot wash in the washing machine and dry them in the sun. Repeat the treatment and the laundry in a week's time. Make sure any partners or close contacts do the same.
You don't need to be over 21, or have a prescription to buy permethrin creams or shampoos, or any other treatment for crabs or lice or scabies. Tell your sister not to be embarassed. Your pharmacist sells these products a dozen times a day.
