Taking salamol and propranolol at the same time?!

Question: Taking salamol and propranolol at the same time!?
Ive been taking propranolol for anxiety 2 x 10mg three times a day for a few months!. I have just been to see my doctor because Ive had difficulty breathing over the weekend and he has given me a salamol inhaler to use even though he doesn't think i have actually have asthma!.

I just read that you shouldnt take these two medicenes together!. I have used the inhaler about half an hour ago but i cant remember wether i have taken an proparanol today!.

What should i do!? What will happen if i do take them together!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It is not usual medical practive to use both a beta-blocker (like propranolol) and a beta-agonist (like salmeterol, salbutamol) at the same time, EVEN if the beta-agonist is inhaled!.

If your doctor doesn't really think that you have asthma, then I would suggest that the inhaler be discontinued - if there is even a mild suspicion of asthma, what I would do would be to trial you off the propranolol to see if your breathing difficulties improve (asthma can be cause by taking beta-blockers)!.

I'd suggest not using the inhaler again until you can bring the matter up to discuss with your doctor, unless you're certain that he is quite aware of the situation and deliberately putting you on this combination of medications - it is quite easy to overlook that you are on propranolol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
