Why do I have a difficult time breathing when lying down?!

Question:

Why do I have a difficult time breathing when lying down?

I have been told and tested to have sleep apnea in which I have a cpap machine at home. I stop using it cuz the pressure made a blood vessel in my eye erupt. For days I would see blurry as if I had no glasses on. But lately I had been having some hard times breathing when I lay down and I don’t know why. The best way for me to lay down on my stomach and sleep. I have a inhaler that I use cuz I had ammonia last year in one lung that they believe started my asthma. Please help don’t know what to do and what kind of doctor to see.

Answers:

Never ever in my career have i seen a CPAP cause a patients blood vessels to pop. Possibly the mask wasn't fitting right or the pressure or altitude wasn't right. Are you overweight? That could make it hard to breathe lying down. You NEED to use the CPAP thats the key to being able to breathe. Trust me!! See a Pulmonologist, most likely the doctor that prescribed the CPAP.
