Can someone tell if they have a blood clot in their leg?!
Question:
Can someone tell if they have a blood clot in their leg?
Answers:
hi emily, I am prone to clots in my leg. If the leg is swollen, hurts to walk on, and is turning blue or purple you may have a DVT. The MD may take a tape measure and measure both legs to get an idea if it's indeed a clot but a doppler is a good way to determine if you have sufficent blood flow going throughout your leg and to dx a DVT STAT.
Treatment is usally either an inpt in the hospital hooked up to a bloodthinner IV or if you have a greenfield filter like I do, bedrest, and taking a blood thinner at home. No walking is allowed until the swelling goes down and the bloodwork comes back that the INR is within target range.
