Undercooked meat at a barbecue=E. coli?!

Question:

Undercooked meat at a barbecue=E. coli?

Quick question since I am a hypocondriac and I have a trip coming up on Friday. I ate a burger at a barbecue for the fourth of July. The outside was dry as if it were done, and the middle mostly perfect. However, there was a pink spot in the middle of it, which I tried to avoid as much as possible and the juices were pinkish. What are the chances that I could end up with E. coli? I read recently that a small percentage of beef carcasses tested had this disease but I was unsure of the reliability of these sources. Give me an answer if possible, thanks.

Answers:

E coli is mostly found in chicken and can be completely destroyed when cooked properly. However other meats at the butcher's may get infected if they donot follow safety norms and use the same knives or chopping boards equipment to cut different meats. This maybe a source for ecoli to make it's way into other meats! Your best bet is to always eat well done stuff!
