Can you drink carbonated water while fasting for a cholesterol test?!

Can you drink carbonated water while fasting for a cholesterol test?

I have to have a cholesterol test done. For that test I have to fast for 12 hours and I was wondering if I could drink carbonated water or if I just was able to drink regular tap water.
