How important is it to take tomoxifin after breast surgery and radiation for typ!

Question: How important is it to take tomoxifin after breast surgery and radiation for type 1 breast cancer!? !?
Answers:
Tamoxifen does not kill or attack anything!. It is a hormone therapy used mainly in ER positive breast cancers!. It has proven to be very effective and it is an important part of treatment!. If the patient is finding it difficult to tolerate Tamoxifen she should speak to her oncologist who may adjust the dosage or provide an alternative!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would say its very important! With type one your survival rate is VERY VERY good!.!.!. you might as well make sure all the cancer cells are gone! My mom is on tomoxifin (she has stage IIIa breast cancer) She is in chemo and is NOT looking forward to radiation!.!.!. but radiation has come a long way where it is more localizedgood luck hun!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's important in killing the cancer cells that remain behind!. When they do surgery they try to get it all, but they don't - there can be just individual cells in there hanging out waiting to reproduce and spread - you need to kill those so it doesn't "come back"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it's been recommended by your medical team it's advisable to take it!.

@BCA FIND THE CURE - please let your mum know that compared to chemo, radiotherapy for breast cancer is a walk in the park (have had both)!. Best wishes to her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on other aspects of the Cancer!. Tamoxifin is often prescribed if the cancer is estrogen receptive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is extremely important as tamoxifen is generally quite safe, and attacks micro metastasis that may not be treatable with local radiation/surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
