Palliative care generally means comfort care for terminal illness!. I'm sorry you're going through this!. You will be treated like a capable, rational human being!. However, while you're still mentally acute, you will want to make sure you express your wishes to ensure they will be carried out!. This is a very sensitive topic that you should discuss with your home care providers!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dependent upon your circumstances, you should be able to recieve quality nursing services!. Criteria will depend upon whether the service will be temporary or permanent & other variables, the nature of your illness or injury, do you have anyone else in family, friends, etc!. who could perform care, an MD order for your care!. I've worked in this field as an RN for many years, and from my experience I know this will vary from state to state!. Most states have a state run healthcare program for those who are in need of assitance and will provide nurse's, therapists, etc!. if you meet criteria & it should be free, depending on your or your family's financial status, ; private insurance which was existing at time when you became iill, disabled could & should provide some help!. When you receive a healthcare from a state or other agency in the home, both private & state, Medicare, etc are supposed to be monitored closely by the state and or ins!. company--you will have a case worker to whom you go with any needs, complaints about caregivers, requests, etc!. If you already have care, but feel you are being treated badly don't hesitate to contact your MD !. The system can be slow, aggravating, and unfair at times but you or an advocate cannot give up--keep on fighting, nagging, threatening, what ever it takes to get the help you deserve!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
