You may try changing your blankets/sheets and pillows to something synthetic, i!.e!. not feathers or wool, because these will retain a lot of dust and house mites, which cause allergic reactions!. If you already have synthetic blankets, then maybe you should go to a doctor to get an allergy test!. The problem may not be simply an allergy, but could be something more severe!. It is unlikely that the cat causes the allergy, since you said you already had a cat!. Cats hair is structurally the same, and if you are allergic to one cat, you will also be allergic to another!.

It definitely sounds like an allergic reaction!.

I hope it's not your BF's cat, the washing powder is a much easier allergy to solve!.

Try to stay away from "biological" powders!. The Fairy non-bio is a good one to try!. Just remember to re-wash -everything- otherwise your allergy will just continue, and get worse!.

If you were not allergic to a short-haired cat, then you aren't going to be allergic to a long-haired cat!. They both have the same "dander" which is the allergen; unless the cat was washed in biological washing powder!.!.!. :}Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should take some benadryl and see a doctor!. They will probably prescribe you prednisone!. I, too, had a severe allergic reaction that caused me to develop SJS last year!. The only thing that helped me was the prednisone and of course the benadryl, cause it helped me sleep and that was the only time I wasn't in pain or itching!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

yeah you have had an allergic reaction im allergic to nuts and on a reaction my eyes close lips swell throat closes whole body gets a rash i was taken to hospital on my last attack it was so severe i have now been given 2 epi pens to carry with me at all times take piriton as someone else stated that will help the swelling you should be ok in a few days be careful allergies get worse on every attack i could die on a severe attack Www@Answer-Health@Com

This makes me think of that TV programm I saw the other evening!.They were showing some freshener sachets that were build into the underneath of modern settees which have given some poeple terrible skin reactions, apparently one lady died from it after all her skin peeled off!. If I were you I would have a good look underneath (if neccesary rip it open) of where you are sitting on mostly!. Just to eliminate that scenario!. Good luck !Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would try either Caladryl or Benylin!. You can get them at any drugstore or grocery store and they both will help with the itching and swelling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Could well be the washing powder!. My mum bought a bio type years ago and both my dad & I went mad itching!. She went back to non-bio and it cleared up within a weekWww@Answer-Health@Com
