Question:

Are there any alternatives to antibiotics one can take for strep throat?

im allergic to penicilin and amoxocilin and im fairly certain that i have strep throat so i was wondering if any thing has to be done to treat this how long will it last without treatment?

Answers:

You always have to have treatment for strepthroat. It leads to a heart disease called rheumatic fever if you don't treat it. There are many other antibiotics, EES, all the sulpha drugs, newer antibiotics. I am also allergic to PA. I have taken Amoxicillin and apmpicillian ok, but few doctors will prescribe them if you are alllergic to PA. You can take all the "sulphides" and "mycins" as an alternative if you are allergic to the "cillians".

Please please do not take the earlier advice given about simply using VitC or Iodine. Strep throat is different than other bacterial infections. This one will kill your heart if you don't treat it. It is a very serious bacterial infection.
