Hi, the worse part is the fasting, and the taste of that awful spray that numbs your throat!.
They should give you some really nice drugs to make you relax, and so more drugs to make sure you do not remember a thing, which is always a blessing!.
You will be awake so you won't need a breathing tube, etc, but you will be nicely drugged up!. I woke up and asked when they were going to start, lol!
Anyway, afterwards you will burp a lot and have a sore throat, so I had a lot of warm tea and honey for the day, but it wasn't unbearable or anything!. I think my throat was fine about 2 days later!.
It really, really is nothing to be worried about and it will be over before you know it (literally)!.

they usually use "conscious sedation"!. I've had 2 endoscopies and don't remember a thing about the procedure!. you are not awake like you would be sitting at the computer!. Its sorta like that dream stage proior to waking up when you can actively participate in your dream but yet hear noise in your house!. Your mind is awake but most people don't recall a thing and wake up in a recovery area unaware their procedure has even started!. Its not that bad!. they give you meds through an IV!.
