A UTI is very easy to get, especially if you are female!. You can get them from sexual intercourse, wiping the wrong way when you use the bathroom, poor hygine, and taking baths with bubbles or other additives in the water!. It is very common for very young girls (as young as 1 year) to get UTIs from bubble baths!. You can also get this type of infection from "holding it" too long when you have to pee, and not keeping yourself hydrated!. Cranberry juice used to be thought to help a kidney infection (not a UTI) but recent studies have shown that is does absolutely nothing!. Urinary Tract Infections are not contagious!. It is commonly caused by a bacteria that normally lives in the bowel!. The bacteria does not cause any harm in the bowel!. However, an infection is caused when this bacteria enters the urethra (passage where urine passes)!. Women are more susceptible to this type of infection because there is a shorter distance between the bowel and urethra compared to men!. So it is important to wipe from the front to back after going to the toilet!. It is also important to pass urine if you have the urge and not hold it in!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
