Is it a medical condition or a problem?!

Question:

Is it a medical condition or a problem?

I am a 21 yr old Asian male. From this morning, I have noticed that I take a while to get started on urination. Once I do that, there is no problem in the flow of urine. I have taken a laxative last night and I am currently taking medication for IBS and depression (Lexapro). It's taking me 5-10 secs to start my urination. Do you think it's a serious problem or should I wait and see...? Do you think my anxiety is making it worse..?

Answers:

Usually, the major problem with males and urination is either a urinary tract infection or something called benign prostatic hypertrophy (bph).

If it doesn't burn when you pee, it's probably not a urinary tract infection.

Since you don't have problems once you start to urinate, it's probably not bph -- typically, with bph, you'll start and stop several times, and you'll frequently feel like you've got to pee REALLY bad, and only actually pee a little.

It's probably nothing.
