My dog stepped on my foot. Could I possibly get rabies?!
Question:
My dog stepped on my foot. Could I possibly get rabies?
My dog's vaccine has expired. He stepped on my foot and there are two small wounds. The wound did not bleed; they only hurt as if they were a scratch. I washed the wound with soap and water half an hour after the dog stepped on my foot, cleaned it with alcohol and applied Neosporin (an antibiotic). Could I get rabies from that kind of wound? Do I need rabies shots, an anti-tetanus shots or do I need to take antibiotics? Or do I just have to continue cleaning it with alcohol and using the topical antibiotic? Thanks

The wounds aren't even conspicuous. I can barely even see them when I'm standing and looking at my feet.

Just to clarify: the wound is on my foot, not on the dog. I got the wound after his nails punctured my skin a bit. I am just worried because the wound is close to a visible vein.
Answers:
No not a chance. Just keep it clean like any wound. Please refer to this site.

Now go get your dog vaccinated. The fine for not being up to date can run into the hundreds. And if she is bit by any other mammal she may have to be destroyed. Call tomorrow and "get er done"!
