Question: How long should my friend wait to get an AIDS test!?
My friend's boyfriend cheated on her with a girl that does heroin!. He said they used condoms every time but word got out that they are now afraid of a pregnancy!.!.!.so I need desperately for my friend to get tested!.
However, we don't know when he first started cheating!. My question is, how long does the AIDS virus stay in the body before it shows up on a test!? We don't want her to go in to get tested too soon!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Usually to test for hiv would be around 30-90 days after the 3 month window period, but usually in some people in rare cases hiv does't show up in the blood for along period of time it can take up to 6-12 months to know for sure you have it or you dont have it!. But I would definatley have her get tested within 6-9 weeks,12-24 weeks, after possible explosure and see what the test results are!. Good luck on your friends results I wish her the best of luck and I'll be praying for her to have negative results!. Now also she should get tested for all stds including genital herpes 2 within 2-3 weeks after possible explosure to weigh that out and get that off her shoulders as well!. I believe Planned Parenthood does free tests, but i'm not sure!. Have her go in ASAP!. If it doesn't show, go back in a month or two and do it again!. I think everyone should be tested every 6 months!. It's really not hard to get infected!.
