Infectious sweat glands?!
Question: Infectious sweat glands!?
What is an infected sweat gland and how do you get them!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
technically there is no such thing as "infectious" sweat glands - meaning that there is no disease that you can transmit from your sweat glands!.
There is, however, a well known syndrome of "infected" sweat glands, called "hidradenitis suppurativa"!. It can be severe, and frustrating - usually presenting as recurrent abscess and draining fistula tracts in the groin or underarms!.
various therpapies are often tried - but the only true cure is total surgical excision of all of the skin and sweat glands of the affected area!. This should be done by a very skilled surgeon with experience - a plastic surgeon would be highly recommended, to try to reduce the scarring and disfigurement!.
medical therapies like antibiotics and isotretinoin are partially helpful - and can be used for very very mild cases!. But truly this is a surgical disease, so consult a plastic surgeon if you need help with this!. An infectious disease physician would be a good resource to offer some assistance as well, but cannot cure you with antibiotics!. Good idea to get an appointment with both for a team approach!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
