Since the flu is a virus?!

Question: Since the flu is a virus!?
Why is it that so many people get sick with the flu at the same time!?
I thought viruses only affected you when your immune system is weak!.

So many people get sick because they have the virus and are able to spread it to others before they know they have it!. The flu takes 1-5 days to 'incubate' (from the time you are exposed to the time it shows symptoms)!. And then it is contagious for another 3-7 days or so!. The flu can affect anyone that is exposed, however, if you have a strong immune system and your exposure was very minimal, you MAY be able to fight it off or have very light symptoms (you will still be contagious!) That is why you hear about it being most common in the elderly (especially in close quarters such as hospitals or adult homes and such) and in little kids, because their immune systems are not as strong, so they are much more susceptible!.
The flu can be spread through droplets - sneezing or coughing will send thousands of virus filled droplets into the air!. Anything the droplets land on can potentially infect someone else!. All you need to do is somehow get a droplet into one of your mucus membranes (nose and mouth most commonly) and bam, you've been exposed!. Also, the darn virus can live for several hours on dry surfaces (door handles, counter tops, TV remotes etc!.) So, to sum it up, the reason so many people get sick at the same time is due to the combination of the virus' ability to survive and people who are spreading it don't know they are spreading it!.
To avoid getting it if you don't want a flu shot - WASH YOUR HANDS before you touch anything that will go in your mouth or nose!. And good luck; our fellow world citizens are quite dirty!Www@Answer-Health@Com

you thought wrong, any virus can infect you if you create the right conditions, in other words, not washing your hands and touching your face with them!. The flu is spread, like most viruses, through contact!.
If you touch a public surface, like a door knob, a counter, a shopping cart handle, and then touch your face, you innoculate yourself with whatever someone else may have left on those surfaces!. So, always always wash your hands alot, and never touch your face in any way without first washing your hands!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
