How to treat sudden convulsion ?!

Question: How to treat sudden convulsion !?
yesterday , a worker in my collage got a sudden convulsion , unfortunately i was the only one there at that time !.
he looked like a person under electrical shock , a tough body with totally very limited flexibility (like a piece of wood) and powerful convulsions , alot of salivation and some urine drops , his eyes turned White totally , and his body was really hot , with no sweating , his jaws were tightly locked !.
actually i had no idea what to do , so i dropped a cold water on his head to reduce the temperature and cared him on shoulder and ran to the hospital which was luckily around 200m far !.
the questions are :
1- what are the main causes/stimulant for convulsions !?
2- what are the immediate (emergency) treatment for this case , and how can it be preformed in case there is no medications can be supplied immediately !?
3- what are the medical treatment for it !?

thank you

There are a number of reasons for convulsions!. This worker may have epilepsy and might have had a seizure due to no medication or what ever brings on the seizures for this particular person!.
The only thing you can do for a person who is having a grand mal seizure (which is what you described) is to be sure they don't kick and hit something that would hurt them physically, try to hold their head so they don't hit it too hard on the floor and let it subside naturally!. It seems like it takes forever but in reality only lasts about a minute!. If you try to hold their entire body still it only makes them sorer the next day as their muscles strain against you during the seizure!.
The medical treatments they give are anti seizure medications via I!.V!. so that it works faster and they may have to administer other medications if the person is low on sodium or whatever!.
Seizures are scary to the outsider, the one having them normally does not remember them or even part of the day before them!. Just try to remember, in case this happens around you again, keep the person from hurting themselves, dial 911 for immediate help, be sure their airway is good (loosen ties, unbutton top button), and stay calm!. Your coworker had an epileptic seizure!. The best thing to do in this situation is to keep them from hurting themselves as best possible!. Remove any items around them that they could hit, etc!. A cool wash cloth to their forehead after the seizure is helpful to bring down their body temperature!. When a person has a seizure they get very hot!. Help to loosen their cloths and remove any neck ties, etc!. that could restrict their breathing!. If they don't come out of the seizure within a few minutes you should call 911 for help!. Treatment consists of anti-seizure medications that are only available from a doctor!. Bright flashing lights can trigger one sometimes, but there is really no way of knowing when one may happen, The main thing is to remain calm, keep them out of harms way as best possible and comfort them when it is over!. The person that has a seizure is often very upset and embarrassed because they feel out of control and often wet themselves!. Be kind and do whatever you can to help them get back their dignity!.
