How long after exposure do you have to wait before you test positive for hep c?!

Question:

How long after exposure do you have to wait before you test positive for hep c?

Answers:

sometimes infection if too recent will result in a false positive, i would wait three months and then test.
i wouldnt worry however, unless you know the infected persons blood entered your bloodstream-hcv is blood born only, it is not passed via, semen, vaginal fluid, mucus, tears, saliva or breast milk. hcv corpuscles are not tranferrable in those bodily fluids.

as always, everone has one risk factor and should be tested once a year for hcv antibodies.
high risk are those who:
share drugs where blood to blood cross contamination occurs
sharing a razor or toothbrush where cuts may happen (or any other household exposure where blood could enter, ie, a knife you cut yourself with that the infected has cut themselves with or anyother sharp)
getting your nails done

good luck.
