Open Brain surgery without anesthetization?!

Question: Open Brain surgery without anesthetization!?
On the first season of Grey's Anatomy, there is a scene where a parkinsoned patient is undergoing a brain surgery without being put to sleep!.
Its seems so unreal, i mean, how can it be done!? who can survive such surgical treatment without being put to sleep!?
Is this for real!? i mean, do they really do that!? and if they do!? why not to put the patient to sleep!?

Answers:
Sometimes they need the patient awake, especially if they are around the major control areas!. Often patients are woken half way through to check their leg movements, see if they can smile, move their hands etc!.
You can't feel it, your brain has no nerve endings!.

They actually may have been anesthetized, but just not to the point of being unconscious!. And it is realistic!. There are many reasons to do a surgery this way!. Do some more research to help yourself better understand this!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes they CAN do brain surgery on a patient without putting them to sleep!. This is because there are no nerves in the brain, so you do not feel pain when they slice into your brain!.
