Answers:
You will not loose weight by starving yourself!.
Your metabolism will adjust itself by burning fewer calories each day!.

If you eat 2500 calories each day, your metabolisms will attempt to burn 2500 calories each day!.
If you eat only 1000 calories each day, your metabolism will attempt to burn only 1000 calories each day!.

That's why you have failed in your past dieting attempts, and why your friends can eat 2500 calories each day without gaining weight!.

Ridiculous Low carb diets which are popular, are simply just starving diets!.

It takes a few days for your metabolism to adjust itself!. It is possible to force fat burning to happen by cheating your metabolism by shifting the types of calories you are eating in a specific pattern!.
Your metabolism will adjust itself after what you have eaten the last few days!. It will not know what you will eat tomorrow!. It assumes you will be eating the same way!.

Your menu needs to shift every few days!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. First and foremost it could be your genes!. Some people just have more of a propensity to gain weight!.

Other culprits could be stress, or your not exercising vigorously or routine enough!.

Lastly, if your "starving" your body (figuratively speaking), you will gain weight!. Why, your metabolism will slow down and your body will store everything you consume as fat in preparation for the long periods between refueling!. 1700 calories may or not be starving yourself, it just depends on your current daily requirement and how far off 1700 is from that amount!.
