If you have cancer, is your white blood cell count high always or is it normal s!

Question: If you have cancer, is your white blood cell count high always or is it normal sometimes!?
I found a lump on my cheek and I had an ultrasound today which showed three lumps and I am waiting for results!. But I had blood tests done a month before and everything was good in my blood tests!. My white blood cell count was in the acceptable level!. It was in the middle, so not even close to the high side and not close to the low side!. If someone has cancer would his/her white blood sell count be high or does that happen way later!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

As a really really rough guide, it's a WBC is higher when you have cancer (or an inflammation/infection), but for what it's worth, I've had cancer twice and my counts have been high, low and normal!. It really just depends!.!.!. on everything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it depends on what type of cancer you have!. My daughter has leukemia which is cancer of the blood, so her white blood cell count has always been high, except for after she started chemo!. Her white blood count was 120,000 when diagnosed!. So pretty much i think it depends on where the cancer is located and what it is asociated with in your body; your blood, bone, skin, ect!. Good luck, hope everything is ok! Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think, but I'm sure, that at first the person with cancer has a normal white blood count!. But later on, the white blood count is incredibly low due to the chemotherapy killing all of the white blood cells!. Actually most people who die from cancer end of dieing from an infection because their immune system is so low!. I hope I helped and I hope that you are OK!Www@Answer-Health@Com
