Answers:
Drink and make sure you eat at the same time, and then take insulin for it!. A packet of crisps with a pint will do :P It should be alright - I'm 16, diabetic and drink with meals all the time and I haven't ben hospitalised yet :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answererx, You know the answer to your question yourself!. 13 yrs old it is illegal to drink alcohol & have sex!. You are a giggle, immature, stupid and very selfish idiot!. The medication you are prescribe is keeping you alive!. You have a long, long way to even think about growing up!. My only advise is that your mother who gave birth to you does not have access to this email!. Stupid, stupid little girl!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would listen to everyone here saying "DON'T DO IT!." It's just not a good idea if you're diabetic -- some people know their diabetes enough to handle it, but you're 13/14 -- you're NOT MATURE!. You won't know when to stop, trust me!. I know people in their 20's who don't know when to stop!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

im 19 and i have been a diabetic for 13 years you need to keep a very close eye on your blood sugar if you do and do NOT over do it i really wouldnt drink that much b/c the drinks are loaded with sugar! i really wouldnt drink more than 3!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mmm!.!.!.be careful!. While I can't say anything about to you about drinking for the first time at such a young age!.!.!.(because I did it too)!.!.!.my friend died a few years ago from a diabetic seizure, and he had been drinking!.!.!.!.just make sure you have people around you, and be careful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

whatever you decide to do just remember alcohol lowers the blood sugar levels which means if you have taken your medicine etc and the alcohol it could lower it so much that you die!. The choice is your!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Alcohol LOWERS blood sugar!.
No one should drink at 13 or 14 but in case make sure you are eating carbs as well!. Do not count the carbs in alcohol since unlike other carbs they LOWER your sugar!.
Make sure to test often and only a taste if anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

alcohol has sugars in it, so keep that in mind!. now, that being said!.!.!.!.i should not have to tell you that you are too young to drink, as many on here will probably tell you that!. you are going to do whatever you want to do!. many diabetics do consume alcohol and are fine!. i don't recommend it, though!. not only because of the risk of the intake of the sugars, but because of what else can happen!. if you are not a drinker normally, there is no telling what effects it could have on your body!. you may think you are ok and consume more that needed!. please use discretion when being at this party!. be smart!.!.!.!.!.i am sure not EVERYONE will be drinking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

So lets forget the age thing - we've all done that!. When you drink as a diabetic the alchol does strange things and is one of the few things that are still a mystery to diabetics!. As a rule of thumb when I drink my BG will go very high - 25 mmol plus!.!.!.!.!.!.but within an hour or so of not drinking will drop - sometimes to a hypo!. My advise is dont drink for that reason only!. If you ar adamant that you want a drink make sure your friends know what could happen and are awareof the signs - dont let them mistake a hypo for to much beer!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

ok so im guessing you have type 1 because your 13
if not just disregard this

ok so the only worry with drinking is that you wont be aware of low and high blood sugars

so basically you need to stay sober enough that you know what your doing

and set a alarm on your phone at least once that night so you check yourself

but basically you just need to go easy (and i mean keep it to less then 2 shots or(not and) 2 beers) and please tell one of your friends that if you pass out you need a hospital you cant just sleep it off, thats how you die

i mean i don't want to scare you but please be carefulWww@Answer-Health@Com

Did you really say "i'm 14 and mature"!? No, you're not, and there's a reason you little sh*ts can't buy alcohol!. Here's what will happen: you'll have a beer, love it, and over-indulge!. Then you'll watch all of your friends do the same thing, most of them will vomit, and you'll want to die the next day!. Hell, you have diabetes, you might die anyway!.

So no, don't drink!. Just go to the party and be ready to babysit your dumbass friends all night!.

Oh, I'm 26!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

all i can tell you is that from having just one drink my blood sugar goes nuts its really high and then it drops massively to a hypo state, its not good and if its your first time its not going to be worth the risk if your friends are drinking also who is going to be the responsible one looking after you!?
im 30yrs old and one drink for me is not worth it and as you are so young and have never tried it you just wont know how you will react!.
please have a good think about it, i really feel for you though!. xxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

ARE YOU SERIOUS - you're asking strangers on YA about your insulin!. You may go with the intention a having a little alcohol to get a little 'giggly'!. It doesn't work like that - alcohol 'disinhibits' - after a couple you WILL think its OK for another couple - and another!. Hey - don't rely on your mates to save your sorry a*se when you go hypo - they'll be too pissed up to notice!. Next day - you better be on the ball because your blood glucose is gonna be all over the place - except of course you'll be feeling too sick and have too much of a headache to care!. Sit this one out mate - and watch your mates make total prats of themselves!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are so many things wrong with your question!. First of all, I'm sorry but at 13 NO one is mature!. Being almost 14 doesn't mean anything!. I have friends in their late 20's that still act stupid when drinking!. Who ever is being moronic enough to give a bunch of kids alcohol should be b**** slapped!. And your comment about "only doing it once so don't use this point against me" is ridiculous!. You really only planning on drinking this one time in your whole life!?!? Not likely!. I also find it amusing that you say you take good care of yourself, yet you are here wanting total strangers to tell you it's ok to drink!. Grow up!. If you were so mature you wouldn't have even thought about drinking or posting this question!. On the topic of taking care of yourself!.!.!.YOU ARE DIABETIC!. Do you really think that you should be drinking!? You think that you'll be able to only drink enough to be "giggly" but that means drunk!. You don't know how alcohol will affect you!. You will have one and think you're fine, then you'll have another and another!. Eventually you'll be too drunk to know your drunk!. And if you're counting on your friends to take care of you if something happens, you're even less responsible than I thought!. Do you think a bunch of drunken 13 year old kids are going to be concerned with you and your situation!? I'm sure some parent would love to be drunk dialed by their kid at 3am because you drank too much and are having diabetic seizures!. That will go over well!. IF they are even aware of what happens to you (should something happen, which I hope to God doesn't) do you think they will have the mindset to get help!?!? If you are so mature, why are counting on a bunch of drunk kids taking care of you if you can't even do it yourself!?!?

If you want to be mature, then do what you know is right!. Don't drink!. That way someone will be alert, coherent and able to make decisions should anything happen while your underage friends are drunk!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

wow you have a lot of factors going on there!. as far as alcohol goes with Diabetes my suggestion would be don't!. if you do you will have to closely monitor your blood sugar because alcohol can cause big swings in blood sugar!. usually due to people not eating any complex carbs while they drink and the body needing more sugar to burn the alcohol!. second thing is that it is hard to tell the difference Between someone who has had to much to drink and someone who's blood sugar is to low!. third being that if your friends are as young as you they might not call for help for fear of getting busted!. fourth even thought you are responsible if your sugar goes low who is going to be responsible for you!? I would hate to see you end up in the Emergency room because your blood sugar got crazy while you were drinking or worse not have you get there cause your friends are worried about getting busted!. sorry but the best advice i have for you is don't do it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Stay away from the alcohol!. Alcohol is useless, non-nutritious carb calories that you don't need!.

Alcohol interferes with many diabetic medications, including insulin!. The results CAN be fatal!.

BTW: "A little bit giggly" and "drunk" are the same thing!. You canNOT drink alcohol without having an effect, and for the diabetic that effect is often worse!.

And since you are underage, you and your friends could be arrested!. Worse, if something might happen to you, your friend's parents would be responsible!. They would be jailed and your friend would be placed in a foster home until after the trial!.

If you mess up your life, that's your problem!. But when you mess up your friends life too, that's stupidity!.
Www@Answer-Health@Com

alcohol can make your blood sugar drop, especially if you've not eaten anything or you've taken insulin recently!. The thing to do is to check your sugars frequently, don't get so drunk that you don't know what's going on, and ask a friend who knows your situation to keep an eye on you!. You should educate those around you on diabetes, but more specifically on hypOglycemia because this can be more dangerous than hypERglycemia if untreated!. You should carry glucogon or some kind of sugar on you as well as your insulin!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
