Question: Does she still have diabetes!?
Four months ago my 64-year old aunt had a FSB of 125, BP of 156/79, and weighed 187 lbs!.

Today, after four months of diet and exercise, her FSB is within normal range (69 to 96), her weight is down 164 lbs, and her BP is down to 110/66!.

What are the changes that her pre-diabetes has been reversed!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It is being controlled by her watching her diet, and exercising!. Diabetes never goes away, even prediabetes, which most doctors do not even use that term anymore!. Once you have diabetes, you always have it!. It can not be cured, only controlled!.
Diabetes CANNOT be prevented, however , you can DELAY the development of it many times by diet and exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Pre-diabetes is diagnosed if a fasting blood glucose level is between 100 mg/dl and 125 mg/dl!. Usually it is discovered during routine lab tests as part of a yearly physical!.

People with pre-diabetes usually go on to develop type 2 diabetes!. But it is possible to reverse pre-diabetes and prevent a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes later on!.

How can pre-diabetes be reversed!?
Eat a healthy diet and include more vegetables, fruit and fiber and less processed and fatty foods!.
Pay attention to portion sizes and calories to help with weight loss!.
Increase daily activity and shoot for 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 times a week!.
Aim to keep blood pressure and cholesterol within a normal range and take medications for these, if prescribed!.

Diabets canNOT be cured!. It can only be prevented or treated!.

It sounds as though you aunt's treatment is working!.

But the disease has NOT gone away!. If she does not continue to take care of herself, it WILL come back!.

Treatment of diabetes is a lifestyle change!. You MUST control your diet and weight in order to control blood sugars!. If she lets up for even just a moment, the diabetes will return!.

Doesn't sound like she ever really had diabeates!. How many times did she have elevated blood sugar!? One reading of 125 isn't sufficient to diagnosed diabetes!.

It is great that she has been able to change her lifestyle and make great changes in her health!. Lower FSB, weight, and BP numbers are signs that she is motivated to get and stay healthy - good for her!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

it can't be reversed but certainly can be controlled, and seems by the numbers that your aunt is very responsible, follow her example and give her a very big thumbs-up, she deserves it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
