I spent the best part of a year going backwards and forwards to the hospital trying to find out what was causing my stomach problems!. I had a few tests done which was included an internal scan, x-rays, one where you drink the white liquid, and they still couldnt find out what was wrong!.
After nearly a year of not being able to get out of bed because of the pain in my stomach i got so fed up that i told the consultant if he didnt give me an answer as to what was wrong then i was going to complain and wanted to be seen by a private doctor, but at no cost to me!.
As soon as i said that i was in for more tests and then they said i had IBS!. I didnt believe this, but i did everything they said, was put on movicol amongst other things, changed my whole life style and i was still no better!. The pains then went away but kept coming back, which i didnt understand!.
Finally they said that they wanted to cut me open to take a look, which i refused as they didnt even have an idea what it could be or what they were looking for, and he said what he wanted to do was quite risky, and i was not going to risk my life for some doctor that was worried about getting a complaint written about him!.
My pain has gone away now, but i think it would be worth going back to the doctor who referred you to a specialist and explain that they are being far from helpful and you would like to see another consultant!.
Luckily my pains are not as frequent, but when i do get them everyone knows about it and you wont see me out of bed for a few days!.
Hope you find our the cause of your problem, keep perservering with the NHSWww@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn;t go back to that doctor!. No tests, no scans!? And the consultant too!. Oh gosh!. In fact it might be better to find a doctor that is affiliated with a different hospital group (if possible)
I don't know about others with ibs but when I had it, the pain was so bad I passed out once and every time I would end up in the floor in the bathroom with the sweats!. Funny after a quit taking Pamelor and switched to Wellbutrin I've never had the problem since!. So go figure!. Best wishesWww@Answer-Health@Com

Oh yes, it takes an average of 5 years to diagnose something like coeliac disease!. You can get a test for this disease at the chemist and use it to ask for an endoscopy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
