What's the difference betweeen bad Hodgkins and good Hodgkins?!
Question:
What's the difference betweeen bad Hodgkins and good Hodgkins?
Answers:
'bad' and 'good' Hodgkin's are not actually official diagnoses.
But we can talk in general terms.
Hodgkin's disease (Hodgkin's lymphoma) is generally very curable. HD is known as a 'good' kind of cancer to have.
But, as with everything, there are exceptions. Some cases are particularly high risk and stubborn.
They may have high-risk features from the beginning, or
they may just not respond well to therapy (refractory), or
they may come back after an initial response (relapsed).
Any of these might be referred to as 'bad Hodgkin's' and need to be treated with stronger therapy and possibly stem cell transplant.
I hope that you are not having to deal with this yourself.
Take care,
MM
