Flat feet blisters in sand?!

Question:

Flat feet blisters in sand?

So I've had a problem going to the beach all my life...which sucks because the ocean is my favorite place to be. Almost everytime I've gone, I've gotten horrible (and I mean not being able to walk horrible) blisters on the bottoms of my feet that span the legth and width of my arch...or lack ther of. They take months to completely heal. I've only recently made the connection that it might have to do with my flat feet. So I literally don't have an arch, the abrasiveness of the sand causes major blisters. Flip-flops don't help, velcro sandals, or water shoes aren't my "thing"... any possible solutions? I'm moving to a place very famous for it's beaches and I'm freaking out thinking I may miss out on that.

No, it's not that the sand is hot. There have been plenty of times where I've gone to the beach when the temp was in the 50's and early 60's, overcast, sand cool to the touch. The other day in fact, I walked out to the shore, by the time I walked back to the car, the skin on the arches of my feet were already starting to pull away from the rest of my foot. Now I know by now that if it's not too bad, I go back home, put on a thick foot cream, socks and shoes, the skin won't seperate and blister. It will just be sore and have that burning sensation for a day or so.
The coarsness of sand depends, so it's always kind of hard the measure how far I can walk in what type of sand when the sand is a certain temperature. Is it even possible to develop a calius on the arch of the foot? FLip-flops don't work, they just sink in the sand, and I end up walking on the sand anyway. Maybe I should go a doctor, damn! I really appreciate the help guys! Let me know anyone thinks of any more!

It sounds like you are allergic to something in the sand or the water. Especially since the flip-flops don't keep you from getting blisters. My brother has flat feet and he does not walk enough to get calluses on the bottom of his feet, so his feet are sensitive to a lot of things and his feet break out in blisters and hives. The skin on anyone's arches is thinner than the skin on the rest of the foot, so I'm guessing that something in the sand is really irritating the heck out of your arches. Sometimes jellyfish eggs wash ashore, but they die very soon. You could be suffering from a sensitivity to the dead eggs. Look closely at the "blistered" areas, do you see what looks like a white scar only in a dot? Lots of microscopic stuff in sand.

Try putting sunblock on the bottoms of your feet, or maybe bullfrog water resistant sunblock on the bottoms of your feet to see if that helps somewhat. Good luck.
