My glands are swollen...have white stripes on tonsils...my temp is 98?!

Question: My glands are swollen!.!.!.have white stripes on tonsils!.!.!.my temp is 98!?
Answers:
Swollen glands and tonsils are an immediate warning sign of infection!. Right there - first cue to seek medical attention!.
White stripes or spots on the tonsils indicate a number of conditions - most likely strep throat or tonsillitis (though there are a number of other illnesses, including mononucleosis, that have this as a symptom)!. Both mono and strep are usually accompanied by a fever ranging from 101-104 - which makes tonsillitis the immediate suspect!. However in both the former diseases - particularly strep - the fever may present itself later in the illness, so if you have only just begun to feel sick you may still have contracted either of them!.
In any case, you need to see a doctor right away - the white gunk you are seeing is literally bacterial pus on your tonsils, and left untreated will continue to make you feel ill!. This kind of problem doesn't go away on it's own - you'll need prescription antibiotics for tonsillitis, a bacterial infection, or strep if the doc diagnoses any of the aforementioned!. In any case, you'll need to be tested to find out what's going on!.
You can try OTC medications in the meantime to help with discomfort (until you see a doctor, that is!)!. Tylenol 8 hr is the best OTC medication for sore throat and related symptoms - and if you do develop a fever it will help to keep it down!. You might also try hot tea with lemon (the heat is for soothing, the lemon is for cleansing) - drink it as hot as you can because temperatures over 104 will help kill bacteria!. Also, gargle with salt water or hydrogen peroxide (**Do Not Swallow this***) to help your tonsils!. Rest, get plenty of fluids, and bundle up against the cold (I mean really bundle up - scarves and all)!.

See your doctor ASAP, and good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

you didn't say that you were sick, nor that you had any sore throat!.

if not, then you do not need to do anything!.
But a doctor could only give you good advice if he examines your throat firsthand!.

You may certainly have a common cold virus this time of year - and again, there would be no treatment!. There is no particular need for concern so long as you continue to feel well and have no fever, and no true need to see a doctor in that case!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
