okay.. when i was little i had cold sores a few times. I dont anymore nor do i have any signs of herpes. I was just wondering if the virus is automatically in me forever.. and if i give my boyfriend head if he automatically gets the std version?

The STD version and the cold sore version are two different strains of herpes virus. Cold sores are a herpes virus, which means that they will stay in your body for life and may flare up from time to time. If you have a flare-up, you may transfer it to your boyfriend's mouth. He may or may not contract it from you. Always a good idea to refrain from kissing and other sexual activities when you have a cold sore. However, like I said before, these are two different viruses, even though they're in the same class, which is herpes.
