Which doctor to seek?!

Which doctor to seek?

I had a genital infections a few years ago. I did not go to a doctor and it seemed to cure itself. But I am afraid it might come back. So i wanted to know if i still have it, or what it was to prevent from it. What kind of doctor do i need to seek for that? a Dermatologist?

I think it was something similar to jock itch or something. And it wasnt an STD. Should i go to the local health department to get checked?

I did not have sex at the time when the infection showed up. I was still a virgin. The skin turned dark and that was about it. And occasionally, the skin around the genatial area itched.

You can go to a regular general practitioner.
You can also go to your local health department for testing.
Depending upon what kind of infection you had (STD?)
they usually don't just 'go away'. They migrate into other parts of your body and come back to haunt you, and any partners you may have had, at a later time.

If it truly was just a skin infection, and you think it has returned, do see what is causing it.

Sorry I had to do a lot of assuming here, but don't have enough information. Dermatologists usually only treat skin.
