Question: Doctors orders but how is this possible!?
A week ago I went to the doctor for results of my bloodwork!. She said I was borderline diabetic, high blood pressure and high cholesterol!. She says I have to cut out the salt, cut out the sugar and cut way back on carbs, fat and the amount of food I eat!. How in the world can I do this!. I've been trying but I'm so anxious!. It's as compelling as any drug!. I'm 67 years old, 5 ft 4, 173 pounds and very very active!. I don't smoke or drink and I sleep 6 hours a nite!. I wake up at 5 or 6 every morning!. Can anyone give me advice!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm sorry to here that all of this came at you at once! Was it all a surprise!?

So your doctor wants you to do all of this because she wants to see you healthy, and at this point your risk of getting diabetes is very high!. Some studies have shown that an intense diet ( low in saturated fat, low in calorie, high fibre) with about 150 minutes of moderate instensity exercise can reduce your chance of getting diabetes by 60%!! Thats a really big benefit and can really improve your quality of life!.

So talking to a dietition or nutritionist may help you find a diet that can work for you while still reducing your risk of diabetes!.
-Lots of fruits and veggies (no butter added)
-Only low fat milk/dairy (and make sure that the low fat yogurt doesn't have added sugar, aspartame/sucrolose is preferable)
-Try to eat more fish, even once or twice per week
-And just make sure you are getting 150 minutes of exercise over the week!. This is best done in 5 days with about half an hour of exercise per day!. If you have an exercise bike and can use that for a half hour that would be great!. Do it while watching TV!

Hopefully this helps, if you have any questions about medications or anything feel free to contact me!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow, they sure gave you alot of things to be anxious about, are they trying to help you lower the levels by changing your diet then as opposed to giving you prescriptions!. If so, that is the way to go, it is hard to change, but you can do it!. My mom is 73 and has the same problems she uses Melaleuca products for her cholesterol and high blood pressure!. Choloesterol lowered by 20 pts!. Sometimes is doesn't matter how active you are as some of these things are genetic!. If you are interested in finding out more about what my mom takes, let me know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

start with sugar and salt!. Read every label for sugar and salt!.
use sugar substitute, diet drink!.
Salt, you can use a salt that has less sodium!.
Some diet food has sodium in it so be careful!.
On the carbs and fat and the amount!. I would recommend that you take a food management class!. I know medicare pay for it or some time the local hospital have a class for diabetic!.

My advice would be to go see a nutritionist, I think it would be easier to have a professional put a menu together for you that fits your needs!. I have high cholesterol and it's been hard to cut foods off my diet, I am thinking about seeing a nutritionist myself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
