Question: How many of you are scared silly of contracting HIV but still have random sex!?
i know people that are terrified of this virus (who isn't) and are very aware of the risks even with protected sex, but engage in random encounters very often

Maybe people think that treatment for HIV has improved so much that if they get sick, they will just have to take a pill every day for the rest of their lives and they will be ok!. While it is true that treatments have improved, the treatments do not work well for everyone, and often have a lot of side effects!.
When I do HIV education, I point out improvements in treatment, but stress that the improvements are not reason for someone to continue their risky behavior, because the treatments have side effects and do not work for everyone!. HIV is not the death sentence it used to be, but it CAN lead to death!.
Another big issue is that young people often think that they are invincible, and nothing bad will ever happen to them!. They often think that only "other" people get HIV!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Im acutally more worried about catching other STD's!. If you wear a condom, it protects against HIV and pregnancy 99!.9999% Other STD's like herpes can be caught even if you are wearing a condom!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
