It could be different sore you have, but I can tell you the one I got often. Sometime when I bite on something hard, and feel hurt the back of my gum; I have to keep rinse my mouth with mouthwash. Then I would get a cold sore -like at Connor of my lip. Cold sore lip balm is good for that. Cheap and it's not going to hurt you in anyway.
