Answers:
If you punctured anything critical, you would know it, there would be blood everywhere!. From the fact you didn't mention blood everywhere, I am guessing it barely pierced the skin!. Your thumb is swollen sounds like it smacked your thumb when you tried to catch it and caused the swelling!. The wound would swell as well from the impact of the pencil!. I have been trained in first aid, and it sounds to me like there is nothing to serious here, maybe put some ice on to reduce the swelling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your concern is lead poisoning, if the lead is left inside!. If you punctures a vein you would be bleeding!. Or in alot of pain if bleeding internally I guess!. I know you have to check for lead poisoning on this one!. You have to look up and see if lead poisoning would just be blood poisoning in which case I think a red line runs from the injury poison site on path to the heart!. Find a new hobby, maybe markers in the air!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you should stop playing with your pencils!. Pencils are meant to be used for writing, drawing, and learning, not to play catch or a violent activity!. Besides, they can poke you in the eye and blind you, disabling you from doing homework and seeing, things we all love to do!.

Please consult a doctor and have them check your hand and treat you and your violent ways!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This sounds like really weird behaviour!. Lucky you didn't happen to throw the pencil into someone's eye!. Would you throw scissors and knives around too!? Sounds like you need to see a doctor to elminate the possibility of an infection - You are either very young and reckless or need to see a shrink!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You would know if you punctured the vein if you bled quite a bit!. This is not the end of the world!. In my line of work we puncture veins all the time!.!.!.with needles!.!.!.and people live through it all the time!. If you are concerned about lead poisoning!.!.!.DON'T!.!.!.!.Pencil leads are actually made of Graphite, NOT Lead!. As far as the swelling!.!.!.it is possible that you could have an infection!. This can happen with any open wound!. If it doesn't clear up and/or is red and oozing pus in a couple of days!.!.!.!.you should probably be seen by a physician!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You would know if it punctured the vein because it would bleed!. IF by some chance it did get infected you will get a red line that trails from the puncture!. If you do get a line you should go to the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're ok, if the lead didn't get stuck in the vein!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
