Pink Ribbon- Breast Cancer Awareness question.?!

Question: Pink Ribbon- Breast Cancer Awareness question!.!?
First, I'm not saying that breast cancer doesn't warrant many more years of research, but does anyone think that breast cancer kind of hogs the spotlight!?

There are other diseases and cancers that get virtually no attention!. No attention means no funding for research, and that means there is a far less chance for people who have other types of cancer (like pancreatic, kidney, liver) to ever hope for a cure!.

You just don't see a Walk for Kidney, Lung, Liver, Pancreatic, Uterine, Bladder or Skin cancer!. It's a little perturbing to know that these diseases, which can be as bad as or more deadly than (pancreatic) breast cancer, but receive little to no attention!.

Additionally, there are many diseases that people don't even know about, they don't get any attention, which means they don't have anyone donating to that cause, and that means that researchers will never have the resources to help find cures or even treatments for certain diseases (Muscular dystrophy, Auto-Immune diseases, Heart disease, Respiratory disease ect)

Do you think things like breast cancer awareness month, all these "pink" accessories, and all their corporate sponsors take away money and spotlight away from other cancers and diseases!?

No, it doesn't take away from other cancers and diseases!. The Susan G!. Komen Foundation just hit the nail on the head on how to get fundraising out there and to reach a wide audience!. It's about organization, reaching out, and fundraising!. Breast cancer awareness was never such an overwhelming cause until one foundation stepped up, determined to get the attention that breast cancer needs!.

I do agree with you though that other cancers don't get the same attention!. There are LOTS that don't!. I can understand your frustration!. I work very close with a foundation that works for getting out awareness of childhood cancer!. We were very disappointed by the lack of golden ribbons during September (childhood cancer awareness month)!. We fought hard to get the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act of 2008 bill put in place!. We hope to branch out further and make next September a better month for getting the stories out there!.

My suggestion to you is, if you feel strongly about supporting one of these causes, join forces with a foundation!. Throw fundraisers to raise money!. Organize a walk in your city!. Have a bake sale!. Put together a neighborhood garage sale!. Educate others on how to prevent the disease!.!.!.or about the devastating effects, cure rates, treatment, etc!.

It only takes one person!.!.!.!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The victims of breast cancer !.!.!. and there are millions of them !.!.!. formed the groups that have raised awareness of the disease, that have raised many millions of dollars for outreach, support, and research!. Victims did it!.

There are other groups, other awareness months, other ribbon colors!.

I'm sorry you can't seem to get past your issues with breast cancer awareness!. Aren't you the one (in spite of your hidden posting record) who had a close relative die of pancreatic cancer!?

Rather than complain, form a group!. Raise awareness!. Get over it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Keep in mind that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer, it hits all ages and it can hit both men and women!. These pink items are reminding women that it is very important to do self exams and have their mammograms!. These walks, breast cancer month, etc were started by survivors and/or the family members of those who didn't make it!. If you want to start up a walk for a different kind of cancer stop in at your local American Cancer Society office and they will help you get started!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I totally agree with you!. I was 'lucky' that my cancer was breast, as there is so much research for this cancer - but realize that there are 200 other cancers!.

So when I wrote www!.after-cancer!.com, although it is about the side effects that mainly come with breast and prostate cancer, I try to highlight work other charities do!.

Look up www!.after-cancer!.com / contacts - and choose one of the small charities mentioned!. They would love you to help, fund raise, or just volunteer!.

Good luck

RESEARCHERS WANT TO END THAT AND MAMMOGRAMS!. THATS Y!. every 6 months a woman should do her routine check up and they want to END that so they do as much as possible !. its once a year anyway!. other diseases dont get attention because no one knows about them!. GET THEM NOTICED!!! and as to the 3rd paragraph, breast cancer is VERY deadly!. my mother had a mammogram and had the rarest tumor and it didnt even show on the mammogram! the way she got saved was another tumor that was shown on her breast but it was benign!. but they later found a malignant tumor that didnt show on the mammogram!. if it wasnt for the other tumor my mom wouldntve been here!. tahts wat researchers are trying to prevent!. even with all this technology , it doesnt show everything! thats y they want to do so many awarenesses for it!. and not as many people die from those other cancers than breast cancer!.
