These days, with treatment, many people with HIV can live longer, healthier, and increase the amount of time between diagnosis of HIV and diagnosis of AIDS!. Many people who have HIV have no symptoms until years after they are infected!. Length of life would depend on such things as the person's health prior to HIV infection, how their body is reacting to the virus, whether or not they are following treatment recommendations, and how well they are responding to treatment!. Once someone is diagnosed with AIDS (when HIV has caused the count of infection fighting cells in the body to drop to 200 or below), length of life MAY be shorter, but not necessarily!.
