How long does the flu usually last?!

Question: How long does the flu usually last!?
I got sick around 2:30 am on Tuesday morning!. My stomach hurt really bad and I ended up throwing up about 8 times from 3am to 2pm on Tuesday!. My dad gave me some peptmobismo(sp) for stomach and diarrhea!. It helped but I threw it back up after about half hour but didn't get sick again after that!. I've just been really really dizzy and I've seen double of things but that only happened a few times!. I've also had a headache so bad that I almost blacked out or at least I couldn't see if that makes any sense!. Do or did I really have the flu!? And how long does the flu usually last!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Sounds like a nasty flu!. I hope your dad is keeping close eye on your body temperature!. The dizziness and hallucinating would really concern me!. Make sure you are drinking PLENTY of fluids!. Dehydration is the number one reason people are hospitalised because of flu!. As soon as you are able to keep foods and liquids down, then I would say you are on your way to feeling better!. It could take a while!. Some people it lasts just 12 hours (like me) and others it can last weeks!. Hang in there and RESTWww@Answer-Health@Com

you don't have influenza

you have gastroenteritis!.

the duration is variable, depending on the actual causative germ!.
food poisoning (like that from staph aureus or bacillus) lasts less than 24 hours!. Adenovirus enteritis lasts 1 - 2 weeks ! but the hallmark of that is really severe diarrhea, not vomiting!.

> 90% of gastroenteritis in adults is due to norovirus, and since vomiting is a prominent symptom of that, I'd guess that's what you have -- duration is usually 2 days!.

just drink what fluids you can!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
