Diabetes Book Recommendation for 10 year old?!
Question: Diabetes Book Recommendation for 10 year old!?
My 16 year old son was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and I was wondering if anyone knows a good book I can get to help explain Diabetes to my 10 year old son!. The entire family is making adjustments and I want my 10 year old to be able to understand whats going on with his brother!. Thanks in advance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have you contacted your local JDRF chapter!? If not, call them (look up www!.jdrf!.com) and ask about the Bag of Hope program!. I am not sure if all JDRF chapter have this program!. In the Philly area this program is great, you will meet a parent of a diabetic child who can talk to you about their experiences and you will receive a bag with lots of good stuff for the whole family!. As I recall, there was a book in there written for children!. Take the time to check this out!
By the way, I have a 16 yo son who has been diabetic since age 7!. He participates in sports and all kinds of activities!. You'll need to make adjustments but he can still have a fulfilling normal life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is a great book perfect for kids and parents, I have one and it has helped me talk to and educate my kids about my type 1 diabetes!. It's called Understanding Diabetes, and here is the link to the web address to get one!.
