Question about herpes....?!

Question:

Question about herpes....?

I have HSV and I am wondering if this is normal. I can go a while without having an outbreak, but three months ago I gave birth to twins and during my whole pregnancy, I never had an outbreak until about a month before I was about to have them, of course i delivered by c section because they were both breech, but I never said anything to my doctor about me having herpes and have never been on medication for it, but ever since I had them, it seems as though I have kept on getting blisters down there and it dosen't seem like i've even had a break from it since about a month before they were born. Used to I could go a few months without getting an outbreak and when I did it would last a couple of weeks....is this because i'm not on medication for it?

As another answerer said, if you are having regular outbreaks at this point it might be an idea to see a doctor about suppressive therapy with valtrex, even just for the time being.

Not only are you recovering from pregnancy, but you have had a c section which is major abdominal surgery and your body has put a lot into developing your babies, all of which mean your immune system is probably very low. When your immune system is low, it gives your herpes a chance to surface. It should right itself in time anyway but for now it might be worth taking something like valtrex or famvir. I suspect you're probably not getting much rest - this would help, as would vitamin supplements etc to keep you as healthy as possible.
