Has anyone ever had this problem when getting over a cold?!

Question: Has anyone ever had this problem when getting over a cold!?
It seems that almost everytime I have a cold, part of the recovery process is an annoying pain in the gland or muscle that connects my ear with my throat!. It is like I strain it somehow when the cold gets to the coughing phase, and nothing seems to help!. I was on antibiotics a week ago because my ear was popping, crackling and hurting, and now that has stopped!. Yet I would love to have some helpful hint that would ease the pain that happens when I swallow, but especially when I cough or clear my throat!. Again, this is something I go through almost everytime I have a cold, but it seems particularly painful this time around!. I don't have health insurance, so any home remedies to ease the pain would be most appreciated! Thanks, and God bless!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I suffer from the same type of issues when I have a cold!.

#1!. Good Fluid Intake:
It sounds like you produce a lot of mucus, which is the same thing that has happened to me since I was young!. You need to make sure that you are drinking a balanced amount of fluids!.!.!.not just water!! You may want to drink orange juice, vitamin water, gatorade, along with water!. This helps with clearing out your system because your nose, throat, ear and mouth are all connected!. You need to make sure that these passages are are clear and mositurized!. This helps to lessen and thin out the mucus so that your throat doesn't hurt when you cough it up!.

#2!. Drink Tea and Cocoa
Although hot chocolate isn't the best anything hot will do!. Get your favorite type of tea/cocoa and drink it when you wake up and before you go to bed (don't put a lot of sugar !!)!. Mornings and nights are when your nasal/mouth passages are most vulnerable!. Throughout the night while you sleep mucus is allowed to sit in your throat!.!.!.!.so when you wake up it hurts/or is difficult to talk!. Try Lipton Green Tea (Decaffinated)

#3!. Exercise Routine:
This doesn't have to be a marathon race!.!.!.!.!.but you should incorporate a exercise routine for 3 times a wk!.!.!.!.working up a sweat for about 30 minutes!. I would advise running !.!.!.!.but any areobics will do! You will notice a decrease in your mucus production!.!.!.!.because it will help break down the build up within your ears!.

#4!. Claritin/Mucinex:
Try to use some type of over the counter allergy aid!. Some of these may dry up your system but it really works!!! Try to get one that balances out with you!! I use Claritin and Mucinex together! Get the Mucinex in the blue package/ Claritin Allergy and Congestion (Green Package)

#5 Oral Care:
Brush you teeth at leat 3x a day and gargle warm water for at least one minute each time!.!! You will see the difference of how your throat feels!.

I hope this information help!.!.!.!.I do it each day and it has trully helped me!!! Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think what is happening is your eustachian tube between your inner ear and back of the nose/throat is swelling shut!. The eustachian tube helps to regulate the air pressure in your ear!. I have this problem myself!.

My doctor recommended keeping my sinuses as clear as possible with Afrin (it used to be prescription)!. Be careful not to use for more than 5 to 7 days or you can get "rebound" congestion!. I recently had a bad cold and used Afrin for 3 days!.!.!.!.no swollen eustachian tubes!.

Also, using an antihistamine can help!. My personal preference is Benadryl!. I know it is "for allergies" but it seems to help colds, too!.

Hope this helped some!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It tastes like crap but if you can handle BC powder, the powdered aspirin, it works well in easing the pain on your throat!. Take it as directed though!. Any type of anti inflammatory, aspirin or ibuprofen, will help to reduce the discomfort!. Warm liquids, a cough syrup with codeine would also help , a Dr needs to prescribe that though!. An antihistimine (1 benedryl)taking 2 of them will dry you up too much!. Anyway, 1 benedryl will help control any symptoms of sinus drainage that may be triggering your cough!. Hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
