I would take into consideration if you diabetes is in such a state that if you were completely alone with this person would it be life threatening if they didn't know you were a diabetic or not!. But considering your follow up questions it would seem as if this was not the true heart of your question!.

So, I would tell them as soon as it was prudent to tell them!. That time might be when your "date" sees you taking medication or notices how precise your diet seemed!.

First date 1% chance of me just telling!.
Second date 10% chance, but I would definitely say something way before anything like marriage is talked about!.

I don't know what kind of reaction women get but for the most part I always have had a good reaction to telling people I'm interested in romantically!.

All that being said, it will feel right when you feel "right" about your diabetes and that is done through education, planning and experience!. Once you are well rounded in these areas of your condition you will no longer feel like a pregnant rooster!. You will own your condition and it will truly be a part of you like the color of your hair or your political views!. Just like them they don't define you but none the less they are part of you!.

I hope all my rambling helps!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's kinda hard for people not to know I've been wearing a pump for quite a while!. I have to tell people, I am brittle and no longer feel lows!. Many people say, my grandmother has diabetes!. I always say, it's a completely different kind!. No one has ever had a problem with my diabetes!. My husband knew before we started dating!. I worked with him and he'd seem lows, highs and me blood testing!. I don't hide something I have NO control over!. Sometimes when type 1's are low they act like they are drunk!. I want people to know so they don't mistake a low for being drunk and ignore me!. I'd die!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are going to be going out to dinner with someone new,
they need to know you have a restricted diet as to some foods
and drink!. If you can eat mostly normal meals, you can wait
till you have been together a few times before telling them!.
That way they can see you are pretty normal!. If you have
type 1, probably better be up front about it early on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think it's something you need to voluntarily tell out of the blue right away, but rather something that could be brought up during an event (such as dinner or grocery shopping, or a getting to know each other conversation, etc!.)

Few non-diabetics have a clue about it!. They don't see any symptoms, it doesn't cause them inconvenience!. Be prepared to educate them!.

I don't see any point in hiding it!. If you worry about it, it makes things worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why should there be a reaction!? It's not as though you are contagious or anything!. I have diabetes and nobody would know if I didn't tell them!. Some smart people may guess anyway because of your dietary habits!. Who cares!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not like it's a horribly infectious STD or something nasty as would be implied by the manner in which you are talking about diabetes!.

Tell them when it feels right that's when!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
