Gas and gerd?

hi there...i have gerd and lately i have shortness of breath ...and been really gassy more than i ever have been before....I have had all the tests for the hart and all came up good.........

I assume you have been diagnosed with GERD and are taking medication for it. There are very many causes of flatulence (gas); this condition is often merely a symptom of some other disorder. Sometimes it's just gas! Two good sources for reading about flatulence are:

GERD can indeed cause difficulty breathing. If your medication is not working, erosive esophagitis (the inflamed esophagus will shed cells) may occur; then a precancerous condition called Barrett's Esophagus may occur; then esophageal cancer may occur. Difficulty breathing may indicate that your esophagus and "voice box" are being affected. You do not have to have major symptoms for GERD to be damaging your esophagus.
