Arrhythmia ?!

Question:

Arrhythmia ?

Lately, I have been having these episodes where my pulse gets much faster. It does not usually get above a hundered but for me eighty is about normal. It seems to happen a lot at night but also happens during the day. It usually only lasts for a few minutes. I didn't think anything of it at first but now it continues to happen. Does anyone think this could be arrhythmia or something else?

I have also had an EKG and a stress echo, which both turned out normal.

Answers:

Arrhythmia is irregular heartbeat. What you're talking about is rapid heartbeat. Take out all caffeine out of your diet for a week or so and see if you still experience a fast heart rate. Are you taking a medication of any kind? I used to get panic attacks where the only symptom was extremely rapid heartbeat and I had no idea what was going on, it felt like I had just ran a marathon and i was sitting at my desk. This was my reaction to stress. Another possibility is diabetes. You might want to get your blood sugar checked to see if you have it. That's my advice.
