yes you can give it.
However it is not dosed by age. It is dosed by weight. I'd recommend starting with 5 mg of Ibuprofen per kilogram of body weight.
Also, how high is the fever?
Have you seen a doctor to determine the underlying cause?
Does the child have any other symptoms?
One other thing.....the American Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommends AGAINST alternating doses of acetaminophen and ibuprofen. It doesn't reduce the fever all that better, but has a much higher incidence of toxicity.
