Question: Is getting the flu shot worth it!?
Last year my husband had full blown double pneumonia!. Our doctor told me that once a person contracts pneumonia they're more susceptible to getting it again!. She also recommended that I take him in to get a flu shot!. Normally I would heed the doctors advice but I've heard that flu shots aren't always effective!. Before I start nagging him to get the shot (and BELIEVE me I will have to nag and probably pull him by his ears to the doc office) I want to be somewhat assured that it will help protect him from getting sick again this year!. Any insight you have would be great!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Even though the flu shot is not 100% effective, it can help reduce severity of flu if you do get sick!. (Several strains of flu that are expected to cause the most problems in a given year are included in the shot, but you may get a strain that is not covered by the shot!.)
BTW: You can not get the flu from the shot!.
As far as I am concerned, the ONLY reason for someone to NOT get the shot is if they are allergic to something in it!. Flu can be fatal!. Why not do everything you can, including getting the shot, to prevent it!?

There is a slight possibility that the virus mutates, so the shot would not be effective!. I've been taken it for years and I've never got the flue again!.
Look it this way, if he gets the shots and then gets the flue, would be very bad luck, but if he doesn't get the shot, he would have much more possibilities to get it!. Just in the moment he enters in contact with someone infected!. Imagine you get the flue!. It would be very normal for him to get it too!.

You're not 100% protected from the flu if you get the shot, but you have a lot more protection than if you didn't get it!. I've had a flu a few times!. Last year I got the shot because I was pregnant and I didn't get the flu!. I got my flu shot last week and so far, so good!. I think your husband should get the flu shot!. well actually the thing with flu shots is no one knows if they r worth it!.
they use statistics to determine which strain of flu is coming this season!. if its the vaccine to the wrong strain, u might get the flu!. if its the vaccine to the right strain, u won't get the flu!.
it could be an entirely new strain to which we have no vaccine for yet!.
and when u get the flu shot, u can get a fever and a bit of the flu!.
but in the long run i think tis worth it to get the flu!.

it will protect him from getting the types of flu they are made to!. there is also a shot called pneumovax that you get every 5 years to protect from certain types of pneumonia!. both would be a plus to keep him healthy!. tell him he needs any edge he can get!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
